"We used the [Send a Kid to Camp grant] money to send our son, a 17-year-old with Asperger's, to the Juniper Institute for Young Writers, held at the Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts. This camp enabled him to further develop his writing talent, but perhaps more importantly for him and for us, it provided an opportunity for him to get a taste of independent mobility and residence life prior to applying for college. As a result of this experience, we are now much more confident--and he feels more prepared--for his managing the responsibilities of independent living in college. It was a great foundation to build on both academically and socially."

Become an ASBC Volunteer

The Autism Society of Boulder County is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that offers free services to the public. We depend on committed individuals to help shepherd special programs that serve our community. If you can’t afford to donate money, perhaps you can afford to donate your time. We need people to help us keep our web site, database and service provider list updated, as well as volunteers at our fundraisers, community resource fairs and other events. If you have a talent or passion that fits, let us know!

If you only have a little time to spare, here are other ways you can help:

  • Check out our Service Provider Directory (under "Resources") and let us know if we’re missing any good contacts
  • Join us on Facebook and Twitter and encourage others you know in the community to do the same; re-post our event posts on your own Facebook wall
  • Volunteer to set up or help out at our annual wine tasting and fundraiser in April
