Support Group for HFA/Asperger’s Young Adults Transitioning into the WorkforceThis support group meets on the fourth Saturday of each month. The NEW TIME for this group is 1:00 – 3:00 pm at: Kristin Erby will be facilitating this new support group for ASBC. She is a Social Worker, specializing in support, advocacy and trainings for those with Developmental Disabilities. Currently, she provides employment and career planning services to young adults through Boulder County Workforce. This support group will occur the fourth Saturday of each month. Her approach is strength-based and person centered. She feels strongly that everyone has something to contribute and everyone deserves meaningful, paid work. Although she has much professional experience, she feels her most important accomplishments are regarding the education and support to those with an Autism Spectrum diagnosis, as well as their families and teachers. She learned much from raising her son, Nate, who was diagnosed with Autism at age six and then Aspergers at age 10. Nate is now 21 years, living independently, going to school and working in the community. In 1999 she founded the Ann Arbor Parents of Kids with Aspergers support group. This group not only provided support to parents of newly diagnosed children, but also linked them to local services. In addition to her current Employment Counseling work, she is a licensed therapeutic foster parent through Imagine! Colorado. Thanks so much, Kristin, for joining the ASBC team!
