Socializing with other parents opens up your world by connecting with people in your own unique situation. No one understands the ups and downs of parenting a child with autism quite like another parent. Following is a start — some events the ASBC is sponsoring to develop that sense of community for families in Boulder and Broomfield.
- Support Meetings: These are social outlets but also may be an exchange that is problem/solution oriented. These groups are an excellent way to connect with others and discover new therapeutic pathways and recommended providers.
- Online Groups: A 24×7 connection with other parents or caregivers can provide you with answers to pressing questions or just a place to vent and let off steam.
- ASBC Supper Club: Beginning in January 2012, the ASBC will sponsor a monthly night out at various restaurants in the Boulder/Broomfield/Longmont area, covering the cost of all appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks. Stay posted for details through our e-newsletter and Facebook posts.
- ASBC Camping Trip: Planned for Summer 2012 at Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Stay posted for details through our e-newsletter and Facebook posts. http://parks.state.co.us/Parks/GoldenGateCanyon/Camping/Pages/GoldenGateCanyonCamping.aspx
- ASBC Wine Tasting: The largest annual fundraiser developed for ASBC, it is also the largest single gathering of our parent and professional services community. It will be held in April 2012; check our e-newsletter and Facebook posts for details.
