Where: Platt Middle School, 6096 W. Baseline Road, Boulder, CO 80303
Register: Contact Julie Darrow at 720-272-8231 or email@example.com to get the registration process started.
Volunteer and Parent Orientation: Sunday, July 26th at 3:30-4:30pm at the Platt Middle School gym
Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Julie Darrow at firstname.lastname@example.org. It's a great workout and very rewarding to work with the kids as they achieve their bike-riding goals. Volunteers will run alongside riders inside the gym at Platt Middle School. As the riders progress, we will move outdoors into the parking area. We need two volunteers per rider. There are five riders per session and five sessions per day according to the schedule below. It would be great but not required if you could sign up for the same time slot or slots each day to provide continuity for the riders. We anticipate the amount of running required by the volunteer to be greatest at the beginning and hopefully it will become easier as the riders improve their skills. Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
Equipment: Once again this year, Performance Bicycle in Boulder, CO is the bike sponsor of this event. They are offering all our families a 10% discount on all equipment. They have been very supportive of our community and have offered a private shopping evening Sunday, July 12th from 6-7pm. Please RSVP to email@example.com for the private shopping event.
All riders must have an appropriate personal bike available for the iCan Bike program by no later than Thursday (Day #4) of the program. The goal is to transition all riders to their personal bike towards the latter part of the iCan Bike program so that they are comfortable with the bike they will be riding at home. Parents may or may not have an appropriate bike available. Click here to learn about bike requirements and helpful tips for parents.
Parents/Guardians/Caregivers--Please plan on having the family member or designee who will be helping the rider at home at the camp on Friday, the last day of camp. The iCan Shine staff will train you on how to best assist your rider at home. Your student will have the best chance of becoming an independent rider if he/she continues practicing after the camp is over.
